The Institut Dr. Janez Evangelist Krek is systematically engaged in civic and political education, serving as a think-tank of experts in economic, political, and social fields. It promotes christian democratic values and strengthens christian democracy within civil society.
The institute aims to become a leading christian democratic institution in the fields of democratic culture development, political dialogue, civic and political education, and support for European integration through international dialogue. Through research and advisory services, it seeks to provide a foundation for political action, develop new methods for the democratic advocacy of political interests, and support science, arts, and culture.
Its activities are based on continuous and long-term engagement in education, research, project development, and information dissemination. The institute organizes educational programs, publishes publications, hosts public debates, round tables, academic ceremonies, and press conferences. It also develops and provides content and programs that support all political parties, organizations, and institutions that originate from and operate within the framework of Christian democracy.
To achieve its goals, the institute brings together scientists, artists, and experts from various fields. Each of them can contribute significantly to the exchange of opinions on key issues in contemporary society, supporting the promotion and development of democracy and civil society.
In Europe, Christian democracy is recognized as the foundation of the strongest political force in the European Parliament—the European People’s Party (EPP). As a result, the institute enjoys strong support across Europe and collaborates with similar institutes that share its ideological orientation. It actively participates in major international associations and fosters bilateral relations with similar organizations across EU member states.
